Retail in Detail/FMCG Online: Internet revolution has arrived to FMCG market

Praha, 8th April 2015 –E-Commerce increasingly influences the FMCG market in Europe and recently also in our country. Will FMCG categories copy the dynamic development of Internet non-food retail? And how can we prepare for these radical changes on the market? These questions will be discussed at the next specialized conference Retail in Detail with the subtitle FMCG Online, which will take place on June 10, 2015 in the Prague innovation centre HUB. It is intended for all retailers and producers, whether they are already active in this area, or just considering their options to take advantage of the opportunities that the Internet revolution has to offer.

The look at the current news from retail world is more than clear: e-Commerce is already a reality even in food and other FMCG categories. In the world of Internet trading attracts even such players like the discounter ALDI, via the test project in the UK. BILLA starts On-line sales already in the seventh Federal region of Austria and destroys thus any myths that FMCG online is successful only in large urban agglomerations. The entire German retail market trembles in anticipation of the AMAZON importing the concept "Fresh" to our neighbours (AMAZON is already looking for construction siites for the supporting infrastructure).

Neither in our market we are lacking interesting news– Rohlik.cz, Kolonial.cz or Kosik.cz are loud enough to be heard about their plans. Tesco, the world leader in the online food retail, is currently silent, but insiders know that it is already decided, that the company and its Internet services will remain in our market and will continue to develop dynamically.

The Internet revolution undobtedly arrived to the market with FMCG goods and should be taken very seriously. If FMCG follows the footsteps of consumer electronics and other non-food items, we can await really very dynamic changes. The Czech population adopted (non-food) e-Commerce very well, and online sales reach the market shares, that are very respectable also in the European comparison. But even if developed at a slower pace, the FMCG online phenomenon is not to be underestimated.

It is certainly the right moment to think about where is on FMCG online retail situated and where it routes? Do we know how to prepare for these radical changes on the market? These questions will be discussed at the next specialized conference Retail in Detail with the subtitle FMCG Online, which will take place on June 10, 2015 in the Prague innovation centre HUB. It is intended for all retailers and producers, whether they are already active in this area, or just considering their options to take advantage of the opportunities that the Internet revolution has to offer.
