Program of Retail Summit 2012 published: Recommendations how to grow even in the demanding mature market.
Published 10/25/2011

The program of Retail Summit 2012 is being finalized in these days. The core motto is the analogy of 18the year of the summit with „maturity“of the Czech retail and the need for its players to get inspired with experience and ideas „from elsewhere“. Till the end of November it is possible to register for the summit under Very Early Birds discount conditions.

Further development on highly saturated and demanding “adult” market will not be easy; the situation requires thinking and acting in wider context. That is the basic strategic concept for the program of the next Retail Summit that will be newly held in Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague on January 31 – February 1, 2012

And right the first program part moderated by Jakub Železný will introduce a lot of leading personalities that might bring a lot of inspiration for retailers „from elsewhere“. Let’s mention for instance macroeconomic experts Jana Bureš (ČSOB – Poštovní spořitelna) and Michal Mejstřík (Institute of Economic Studies of Charles University) or famous entrepreneur and anticorruption fighter Karel Janeček. Invitation to this discussion was accepted also by Miroslav Kalousek and Zdeněk Tůma. Also traditional players of the Czech retail market will have their representation in the opening debate of Retail Summit 2012 – participants can look forward to see the owner and CEO of Agrofert Andrej Babiš, President of Czech Confederation of Trade and Tourism  and Chairman of the Czech COOP Zdeněk Juračka, or ex top manager of METRO Group Martin Dlouhý.

The second summit part dealing with trends of retailing and demand will be started by the speech of the keynote David Bosshart, CEO of GDI, one of the Europe’s leading think tanks for business and society. The impact of internet on further development of retail will be the subject of the presentation of John Gillan, Senior Industry Head – Retail in Google. Tomas Drtina, Managing Partner INCOMA – GfK will reveal the prospects of the Czech retail based on results of interviews with top managers and experts.

The final part of the session will be targeted on experience and best practices sharing. The main speakers will be Xavier Hua (President ECR Europe), Adam Elman (Marks&Spencer UK) and Martin Moravec CEO of p.k.Solvent. We will introduce also an absolute program novelty -  Dialog on cooperation between retail and supply side of the market, whereby Douglas Brodman, CEO of Pilsner Urquell invites to interview bosses of 2 retail chains:  Martin Ditmar (Spar Česká obchodní společnost) and Jan van Dam (Ahold Czech Republic).

Late afternoon will be given to parallel meetings in 3 assortment specialised sections- FMCG 2012, NON-FOOD 2012 and FASHION & LEISURE 2012. The first summit day will be highlighted by Festive Dinner with the ceremony of Top Retailer 2012 prices.

The second Retail Summit day will be reserved for intensive discussions in 8 workshops, called traditionally Retail & ....., this time focused on:

o Inspiration from elsewhere
o Marketing communication
o New media and technologies
o Cooperation
o Strategies
o Shopping Centres
o National and regional brands
o Management

Summit is organized with a support of many partners; the most important ones are Poštovní spořitelna, part of CSOB and Pilsner Urquell brewery.
